Blog's back. Its called "Posts" now tho.

Been learning Go and Dear ImGui. Nifty lil thing. Go paradigms seem pretty different from JS, but they manage to tickle that weird part of my brain that makes me want to keep coming back and learning more which is something I haven't felt in a while.

Its a bit tough resisting the urge to tackle a complex project with this stack, but its exciting because I know that once I get familiar enough with the bindings I have the means to. It also happens to be cross-platform, which is something have been bitching forever about.

Speaking of complex projects I am trying not to work on, I have also been exploring networking and crypto protocols. I'd like to keep it vague for now, but I am a tad surprised that this theoretical project niche is pretty sparse, although I am sure I will find out soon enough as to why. I have a working POC, but it needs major rearchitecturing before I can show it off. Real excited to see how it does in the wild.

Speaking of Go, this website now uses Go on the backend. The design is even simpler this time, because try as I might I can't come up with anything else I'd like to add to it. Maybe I'll draw a butt or something so it can live up to its name.

I have also considered migrating RefViewer to Go, but Wails doesn't exactly fit my vision for the project, and rebuilding RefViewer with Dear ImGui would be impossible without changing the entire workflow is a really major way. RefViewer is very much a product of its own ecosystem and it shows. To the -2 users out there using RefViewer the reason there are no updates is because it's built on a very outdated version of Rollup and Svelte which is preventing me from fixing pending security issues and implementing new features. I hope to move it to Vite + SvelteKit sometime soon so I can work on it again.

As for my other "big" project, the filesystem broke earlier this year. I haven't investigated the issue, but its for a good reason. ze.wtf is getting rebuilt with a better tech stack. Python is still the core technology there, but this rebuild will hopefully address the load issues with the network and filesystem. Check out Bjarnes website btw. I promise its related.

Personal projects aside I've taken on a couple duties for a popular gaming community. Its been somewhat fun rebuilding some things and deploying systems that people actually use. Theres a lot of cool stuff going on there as well that I'll hopefully be able to share more about soon.

This post is a bit software heavy but thats pretty much all there is to talk about news-wise at the moment anyway.

Deuces.
